Feb 12th, 2012 - To Emeryville Police Chief (Ken James)
I recently saw, through youtube, your speech which appears to be in an
official capacity at a press conference wherein you made some claims
about the safety and purpose of firearms.
As usual, the debate has been dropped to the lowest common denominator instead of being elevated to the highest possible logic. Your basic argument is this: The Constitution that protects individuals and gives them personal sovereignty and Liberty, open to three hundred million people, should be thrown away so that a few police officers do not have to be scared of their jobs.
Thankfully I have never visited your town and I never shall, as it appears that the police are frightened of their work and may by shear accident or excitement shoot me with their "offensive" tools while dealing with that .5 of a gun that they have uncovered.
I would feel disgrace and shame if I was an officer under your care. I would be saddened and disgusted by your lack of humility under the Constitution and respect for your fellow man. I would, and do, give all men equal footing and define them by the highest possible moral attainment currently fitted into our lives: The Constitution. A document, clear in its writing, designed to LIMIT GOVERNMENT from infringing on our inalienable rights. Let me say that again, designed to limit government from the theft of a single beings sovereign right of individuality.
Perhaps you and your officers should read it, for it gives me great courage to know that a few brave men stood up to tyrannical cowardice and pathetic laws to claim their own identities.
Perhaps you should read the Constitution and reflect on the sacrifice they made to give you the right to stand up there and call 300 million US citizens wrong for believing in the 2nd amendment.
Perhaps you should read our Founding Documents, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Federalist Papers, the Anti-Federalist papers, the numerous letters by Jefferson, Hamilton, Henry, Adams, Franklin. Where they all lead to the same ideal: No man has authority to take another man's right to defend his life. If such a person does they are not only criminals for their theft, but traitors to the highest moral doctrine of human existence.
