Jan 21st, 2013 - The McCarran Act

On Sept 22, 1950 the President and Senate passed the McCarran Internal Security Act, that effectively told people how to think (it was one of the Anti-communist acts) and if they thought differently than what the majority of Americans thought, they could be forcibly detained, lose their citizenship and be deported. It said, "each person as to whom there is a reasonable ground to believe that such [a] person probably will engage in, or probably will conspire with others to engage in acts of espionage or sabotage." It also made picketing a federal court a felony. It was not officially overturned until 1993 by the Supreme Court. I make this reference to remind people, that we whom love the Constitution do in fact have a serious fight ahead that a clear violation of the first amendment took 43 years to fully flush out. Think of it this way: "each person as to whom there is a reasonable ground to believe that such a person probably would use a 30 round magazine in a crime or would probably use an assault rifle in a crime can be arrested and have their firearms taken"
